Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a chronic illness that effects large intestine. This is not a very dangerous but create very obvious changes in the life style of an individual. People complain about abdominal pain, gas, constipation or diarrhea, bloating and cramping. The layers of Large intestine get very sensitive and its symptoms remains for months. The symptoms of Irritable bowel syndrome vary person to person but common symptoms are following.

Cramping or bloating, abdominal pains relieved when passing a bowel.

Individuals feel excessive gas.

Some people tend to diarrhea and some constipation sometimes both with irregulars periods.

Excessive mucus in stool.

Causes of IBS

There are no well-known symptom of the IBS found but there are some factors that play a role in spreading this disease.

Contraction of intestine gets very slow and layer of large intestine that help in movement of the food in digestive tract not play its part normally. If the contraction get stronger than normal it cause diarrhea, bloating and gas. Weak contraction lead to slow passage of food in the intestine and lead to hard and dry stools.

Abnormalities of Nervous System:

When there is no proper alignment in the signals that brain gives to intestine work properly that create discomfort in stretches of abdomen that lead to pain and or constipation. This poor coordination of signals of brain effect the digestive tract badly and create irregular changes in digestion and bowel process.

Inflammation of the intestines:

People with IBS have very bad immune system and get effected from any digestive problem. Number of immune system cells increased their response that associated with constipation, diarrhea and pain.

Infection in the Intestine:

Some bacteria or virus attack and in the result a severe episode of diarrhea develops.  Sometime overgrowth of bacteria in the intestine also lead to IBS.

Prevention for IBS:

There is no proper medication recommended by the experts for IBS by some measures can save a person to change these irregular symptoms.

Stress management:

There is a big role of stress that causes IBS. With proper counseling and stress management a person can modify its symptoms. A proper psychotherapy can be helpful in reduction of the symptoms of IBS.
